Small Ship Travel specialise in booking cruises on small ships. With over 20 years of experience in the industry they are now moving their services online. I joined their team as a designer and have since been involved in various projects, including this online booking system for cruises, which will allow website visitors to book cruises directly online.
The target audience of Small Ship Travel is between 50 to 80 years old. So my main priority in designing this booking system was ease of use. The challenge was to translate what’s needed to book a cabin on a cruise into an easy to follow step-by-step process that’s not overwhelming to people who may not feel comfortable with technology - but at the same time works on all screen sizes.
At every step I wanted to clearly communicate to the user where in the booking process they are, what information they have already provided and what’s still to come. This is why I created obvious active/default state designs that stay consistent throughout all pages and components. The summary bar on the side is permanently visible and not hidden behind an interaction and clearly structured so that the data is easily comprehensible. It also features a button with the phone number of the booking agent.
I’m quite talkative. So if you’d like to talk about your project, let’s have a chat.
